E-10 Five and Dime

E-10 Five & Dime
Ah, some hand applique. It seems easier now. I did the one with the freezer paper on top method, and it seemed to work out ok. The fabric is by Heather Ross, Underwater Sisters in Aqua. I bought a pack of 6 inch charms of the whole line so you'll see lots more.

This post reminds me of Catalina Island. There were no octopi, turtles, mermaids or topless women swimming there, but the the color scheme of the fabric brings to mind the orange garibaldi in the blue ocean. Actually, I think this line is called Mendocino. I'll have to put that on my list of places to visit.

I love this block! I got a bunch of Mendocino over the holidays and cannot wait to put it to use. High up on my list of projects to clear out once I'm done studying.

Yay! I'm so glad you're back to making more blocks! I've really missed seeing your quilt come together. :) How many do you have left?

You should definitely check out Mendocino sometime. To me it's one of the most gorgeous places on earth. :) But I might be a little biased since it holds so many memories for me. Though I don't associate Heather Ross's line with Mendocino at all, personally. I agree, it looks much more southern/tropical than northern/nature-y/gloomy.

Being an erstwhile mermaid, I so love Heather Ross' fabric featuring mermaids. And I am so tickled to see you using it in your wonderful block.
