This is the doll quilt I made for Liz for the Doll Quilt Swap. Don't worry she already received it so I'm not ruining any surprises. I based it off of Denyse Schmidt's Vine quilt, after stalking Liz on her blog and flickr site for a couple days. I used invisible machine applique to attach the circles to the background. Sorry for the rainy photos, you can go to Liz's post to see better ones. Not really sure what those circular flowers are called. I always call them pods, but that seems so... sci-fi.
This is the fabric I ended up using as background. It's from Amy Butler's Lotus line. Funny thing, this is the fabric I fell in love with and wanted to use, but once I finished to top, it seemed like too much. However it did dictate the color scheme for the quilt.
I also made a label for this quilt. This was my first time making a label on a quilt, and I really need to start doing it on all of my quilts. I really want to try the bubble jet set print your own custom labels thing. Sounds like fun to me!! Now I've finished the hard part and I get to wait to see who is making one for me! I'm so excited!!

Hi Lynn,
Thank you so much, I can't tell you how much I love my quilt. It suits me perfectly while being totally different from anything that I would ever come up with. It's awesome! The colors are perfect, I love the kind of stylized motif and I LOVE the simplicity of it. Quilts with a plain background like that are my favorites! Very Denyse Schmidt-y. She is my idol. I didn't even realize that is was inspired by one of her designs!
You're the best!
Liz
Lynn, you did a beauiful job! You two are putting me to shame, with getting your quilts out so quickly. At least I have a design and my fabric is washed and pressed. I'll cut and piece the top this weekend, I hope.
WONDERFUL QUILT!!
Wow, nice job. I'm in the swap too, and am almost done....very nice work! Beautiful!!
That is so beautiful, Lynn! I love the pod vine design and the colors you used. I wish you could teach me to sew a quilt.
Oh, I love it! I am in the swap also and putting the binding on mine...I love the simplicity of this. Nice design.
Invisible machine applique? I hate doing hand applique...I will have to look into that.
I too am in love with Amy Butler's lotus line.
Oh my gosh, I just love this. I just got the Denyse Schmidt book and I was in love with that pattern. I am so very impressed with your talent!
Wow! Lucky Liz..what a wonderful doll quilt. One of my favorite yets :)
I love this quilt! I am having a serious Denyse Schmidt obsession right now.
Lucky Liz is right! I'm in awe of this quilt - the image, the lines, the colors are all gorgeous!
A while back i managed to find a british labels company who printed me some custom labels for a really low price. If anyone is at all interested it may be worth taking a look at their website.
