Ah, some hand applique. It seems easier now. I did the one with the freezer paper on top method, and it seemed to work out ok. The fabric is by Heather Ross, Underwater Sisters in Aqua. I bought a pack of 6 inch charms of the whole line so you'll see lots more.
This post reminds me of Catalina Island. There were no octopi, turtles, mermaids or topless women swimming there, but the the color scheme of the fabric brings to mind the orange garibaldi in the blue ocean. Actually, I think this line is called Mendocino. I'll have to put that on my list of places to visit.

G-7 Indianapolis
Wow, first block in long time! This is the center block of the entire quilt, and I love the fabric. I bought it from Sew, Mama, Sew and it is Blooming Abstract Purple & Red by Robert Kaufman.
I had finished the hand applique part of this block a long time ago, and was waiting to do the little strips in the middle. Not sure why I put it off for so long, but I am so happy it's done. I feel a sense of accomplishment with this little block!

Fleece no sew blanket
So I finally made one of these no-sew blankets. Basically you take two pieces of fleece, cut strips on the side and tie them together. It wasn't too bad, and I'm sure it will be warm, but I don't think I'll ever make one again. I think I'd rather sew it... Anyway, here it is:
Not bad, eh?
Whatcha doing?
Man, you stink. Why did I come over here?
Can I go now?
Zzzz...

Common Threads Update!
Wow, how did I get so far behind? At least I am caught up now. Nothing like getting your wisdom teeth pulled to get some free time to get your act together. A bit more details )about the blocks, not the teeth!) can be found in my post here.

Craft:Along January
Wow, look at this, I completed something! Things are looking good for this year's adventure. I am so glad that this month had a choice between making something and baking. I chose to make the delicious Lemon Drop cookies. I was really excited to make these because the title sounded simliar to one of my all time favorite cookies, Sugar Cane Lime Cookies.
I thought the sugar made them a little too sweet for my taste. I liked them without rolling the cookies in sugar before baking them. But I did really really enjoy the lemon sugar. Problem was after I made this, I had extra cream cheese and 3 zest-less lemons! So I made this quiche and lemonade too. YUM. Although this is a LOT of quiche for two people!

2008 Recap
Alright, the new year has been busy for me. Looking back at last year, I made more things than I had originally thought, but would love to have finished more. Looking through my flickr photostream, it looks like I started a ton of things, but only finished the ones above. Sounds like a new years resolution for 2009. Lets make it official. Finish these projects in 2009:
Some caveats: 75 blocks of Dear Jane complete, not the whole thing. Only WIPs here count.
My last years new year resolutions weren't as successful as I had hoped, but that's ok. It was a BUSY year, with a new pup and all. Definitely lots of fun, and I can't wait to see what 2009 brings!
My little angel, sort of. Not really an angel. I think it's hilarious how big her head looks in this photo.
