Catch up... (how many of these posts do I have now?)

Ok, I have a good excuse. These two have been keeping me busy!

My sister went on a vacation, so Freddy has been staying over and two puppies are a lot of work! Sadly this is the best photo of the two of them because they do not stop playing unless you wave a dog treat in front of their faces! But here are a few things from the past few weeks:

Birthday present from Cousin! Love the interior fabric! It's from her Taiwan trip. She also made two lengths of handles, but they keep falling off! I may have to decide on a length I like and sew them on permanently...

Bend the Rules Sewing Swap bag. Made for Liz, and SO glad to hear she likes it! I free-motioned the detail on the front. All in all, a fun project, but I think I like sturdier bags. I used the birdie fabric for the interior... I finally looked it up and it is "Paint by Number" by Erin Michael for Moda Fabrics. Here is an old PDF of the line.

Block for Common Threads, for Rebekah. Really had trouble with this one. I think I understand why I usually do more traditional patterns. Wonky is hard! It's really difficult for me to randomly make a block and convince myself that it looks good. I made this one, put it aside and looked at it again the next day. Overall I am pretty happy with it. Not sure if I'm supposed to post this before Rebekah gets it, but I figure it's close enough and it's being mailed out today... Sorry if I've ruined your surprise Rebekah! Please let me know what to do for future reveals!

The bags are gorgeous...I love the free-quilting you did on the swap bag.
I love the quilt block. I'm a little nervous to cut in to my fabric but I just need to do it.

I'm so glad to see your block for Rebekah. I'm having the same problem cutting into the fabric. Tomorrow is the day. I'm at that just do it stage too! Yours looks fantastic. I think you might have a knack for wonky!

Seriously...I love that quilt block. Throw that in a frame and it'd be a great piece of art all by itself! :0)

I think I can some up my thoughts here by saying cute dogs, cute bags, and cute quilt square! Hehe. I'm sure Lucy is having a ball. I wonder how Theo would react to a canine house guest. lol.

your square looks fantastic! I've never tried the wonky thing before either (other than from DS templates). I like how each piece of the pattern shows up. and I'm fine with seeing this before it arrives in the mail : )

I love the bag that you made too. The stitching really gives it that extra something special. and that fabric is really cool too

It's so great that Lucy can play with her "cousin" so well! I wish Bryson's as social :)

And the free motion "flower" on the bag you sewed looks so effortlessly artistic and fabulous! OK, I'm so jealous of all you sewing people now... :P

Yes, dealing with 2 puppies is hard. My two guys keep me busy and now with the baby, it's non-stop! I don't even remember what it was like when it was just me and DH.

The block came out very cool! That reminds me to get my butt going to work on mine for Rebekah.

Love the bag that your cousin made and the one you made. The free motion detail is awesome.

Your gifts and projects are wonderful. I think it's great that she made two handle lengths so you can find the one comfortable for you. I've not yet tried the bag from Bend the Rules but it's on my list. I'm so happy to see your beautiful version of it.

And it does look really good! I love the wonkiness! It can be really hard to do a block that you are not used to. I am sure we will have some challenging ones.

Lynn, your wonky block looks really good. You are a pro, just let those inhibitions go.
And what a beautiful bag. The print fabric in the pleats look great, just enough color. I have really been drawn to the free motion drawing lately. It is just enough, without being too much. Have fun with those pups. Love Stacy
