Here are some better photos of Lucy's Halloween costume. She was a Maguro (Tuna) Nigiri. I've never made a costume for a pet before, and I definitely learned some things. I ran out of steam at the end, resorting to safety pins and tying pieces of fabric on.
I used Simplicity 3667 for the bottom rice part of the costume. I made the "Salty Dawg" version, but didn't cut the fringe. I learned that Lucy is a "Large" size, and needs it to be longer still. That's why the back of the costume is held together with safety pins.
Another thing I learned is that the pillow tuna on top made the entire costume top heavy, so it would slide from side to side. I used the piece of black fleece to secure it to her body, but it still slips around.
Even with these problems, she's super cute and the costume was easy enough to start planning for next year!

Ha! I love it! Yeah, you always have to add length for Corgis. I'd say it's the biggest downside to the breed. :p
Ready, you did an awesome job with the costume. I can't wait to see what you come up with next year. And anyway, isn't the seaweed just there to keep the tuna from rocking side to side? ;)
So how did Lucy enjoy her first Halloween? Was she the bell of the ball?
Ha ha ha!! This outfit cracks me up!! The question is, is there a layer of green fabric between the tuna and the rice to represent wasabi? :D
And yes, people are always surprised when I ask for "large" (or like size 20) clothing for Bryson. These guys sure look deceptive!
Aw, did she not approve of the lobster costume...?
Oh, what our dogs will put up with...what a clever costume, though.
Hilarious!! Love Lucy's costume. Now, I want sushi.
omg, that is so cute! Kudos to you for making a costume. I resorted to Target's pet costumes, hahaha....
Your costume is WAY too adorable. Supercute! Good enough to eat! I love food-costumes. My little 7 week old was a lobster.
Ha! I love the costume! mmm tuna :)
